Circles Foundation is a nonprofit that builds and runs Circles, a digital federation of self-governing communities and organizations. It's run by the people who work here and accountable to everyone else.

To help communities and organizations govern themselves and work together, by building free, open-source tools for participation and cooperation.

A world where everyone has what they need and everyone has a say in the decisions that affect them.

How we're governed
Circles is run by the people who work here. But a nonprofit that serves society should answer to society, so we have one stakeholder: everyone.
Our organization is sociocratic, inspired by Sociocracy For All, and it includes Circles platform users in its own system of governance. This is a start. We plan to go further, until society has a real seat at the table.
The platform is built the same way: nested circles that govern themselves and decide by consent.
